Michelle Malkin is beside herself that Gov. Huckabee has now received the endorsement of Minuteman Project founder, Jim Gilchrist. Her blog (click here) reflects the inexplicable anti-Huckabee sentiment of those who previously had been cozy with those of us in the social conservative wing of the Republican Party. It appears that the disparity between the punditocracy, in lockstep with the gentrified class of the Republican Party, and the social conservative activist base of the GOP is becoming more pronounced.
Click here to read the official Huckabee blog about today’s endorsement. Also, be sure to review Gov. Huckabee’s Nine Point Strategy to deal with illegal immigration known as The Secure America Plan. What is perhaps most baffling about the punditocracy taking potshots at Gov. Huckabee’s plan is that it exemplifies everything for which the anti-illegal immigration proponents have been calling and yet they still attack Huckabee for adopting the plan. Nothing Gov. Huckabee does can assuage these neocons who have no use for a genuine conservative who believes in social conservatism and populist policy.

The Christian right (and other fed up conservatives) are supporting Mike Huckabee, but the right’s pundits are not flocking to support him, and many of them are actually trying to derail him. Case in point:
Rush’s Hit-Piece on Huckabee (stick with it, audio of Rush)

Something is very very very very wrong with this picture. Bottom line: The best candidate for the Republican nomination is Huckabee.
